Description
Soviet Order of the Red Banner ‘Mirror Reverse’
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 40.91 mm in height, 36.02 mm in width and weighs 24.5 grams without its screwplate.
In far above average condition with crisp details. Even the higher laying parts such as the center wreath and the torch show light wear only. The beautiful red enamels are mostly original but show a small repair on the 3 o’clock ray of the center star and on the lower part of the top banner. The white enamels are stunning without flaking or repairs. The screwpost has not been shortened and the order comes with its time period and well fitting small silver screwplate.
At some point in time the serial number was scratched out. This was probably done by the awardee or his relatives to prevent future buyers (and the government) to track down the identity of the awardee; an often seen practice especially in the 1990s. There has been some speculation on the number still being visible underneath the scratches (possibly #5273) but we can neither confirm nor refute this and have priced the order accordingly.
Stunning and scarce piece, even without a known serial number
