Awarded to Fighter Pilot and Major Semyon Ivanovich Chayka (Семен Иванович Чайка)
For flying in flying in adverse weather conditions
Major Chayka received his first Red Banner for two air victories in 1945
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 44.75 mm in height, 36.22 mm in width and weighs 25.3 gram. The serial number and mint mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.
The order is in excellent condition with crisp details and light overall wear. The stunning red and white enamels are problem free without repairs and show minor contact marks only. The gold plating is still present although some is covered by a layer of patina. The order comes with its time period double layer steel suspension and old ribbon and its connection ring has not been cut.
Beautiful award to a fighter pilot!
Major Chayka received his first Red Banner on 13.04.1945 for two air victories and was wounded twice in other air engagements. He made 96 combat missions by July 1942 and about 250 during the war.
