Awarded to reconnaissance pilot Captain Vasily Evtikhievich Kolunov (Василий Евтихиевич Колунов)
For personally completing 60 flight hours on combat missions in China fighting the Japanese. The execution of combat missions occurred under complex meteorological conditions and there were no losses
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.48 mm in height, 37.64 mm in width and it weighs 28.4 gram without its suspension. The serial number and curved mint mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its reverse.
In good overall condition with medium wear to the raised silver parts like the center wreath and torch. The white enamels located at the background are flawless and the red enamels show several dings and scratches but no flaking or repairs. Its connection ring has not been cut and the order comes with its old ribbon and double layer steel suspension with an improvised stickpin.
Short translation of the citation:
He is a good leader and educator for the pilots in his unit. During the combat period, his aviation squadron reliably provided avia-connections for the Amour Flotilla. In this period, the aviation squadron has made 100 flying hours delivering combat dispatches, transporting cargo and officers. He personally made 60 combat flying hours, which were made in adverse weather conditions.
The units had no losses in either pilot not materiel, neither in combat nor otherwise. He personally is disciplined, devoted to the cause of the Lenin-Stalin party and the Socialist Motherland, morally and ideologically reliable.
