Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class #735122
Awarded to infantry squad leader Alexey Savelievich Galyapa (Алексей Савельевич Галяна)
For street fighting in Berlin. On April 27, 1945 during the assault on a fortified house in Berlin, comrade Galyana, alongside his platoon, attacked enemy positions. Despite heavy machine-gun fire, he destroyed three machine-gun nests, killed five German soldiers and officers using anti-tank grenades and his own weapon
Made of solid silver, gold and enamels by the Krasnokamsk Mint (KMD). The order measures 44.31 mm in width, 46.17 mm in height and weighs 26.6 grams without its screwplate. Its serial number and mint mark are located on the bottom of its reverse.
In nice overall condition with all its details still visible and a medium patina to the silver on both sides. The red enamels show some dings and scratches and an internal crack on the 3 o’clock ray but are without repairs. Its screw is full length but bent downwards. This appears to be a production flaw rather than damage. The order comes with its original, time period screwplate.
