Soviet Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class #613835

ГЕНЕРАЛОВ Александр Аркадьевич

Awarded to the Jewish technician 1st rank Aleksander Arkadievich Generalov (Петр Иванович Большаков)

For defensive combat operations near Lviv and being severely wounded twice

Scarce small ‘Fish Eye’ variation

Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. The order weighs 22.5 grams without its screwplate and measures 43.32 mm in width and 44.93 mm in height.

This original order of the Patriotic War 2nd class is in superb condition with all details crisp. The red and white enamels are absolutely stunning without dings, scratches or repairs. Both sides show a beautiful patina to the silver and the order comes with its original, time period and well fitted screwplate. Its long screw has not been shortened.

‘Fish Eye’ variations were produced by the Leningrad Mint and are significant smaller than the other wartime orders of the Patriotic War. This relatively small variation is highly sought by collectors for its very distinctive look and relative rarity. The lowest known number in this range of this variation is #580061 and the highest known number is #617896.

Technic Intendant 1st rank
GENERALOV Aleksander Arkadievich 1898
Jewish
Severely wounded 26.06.1941 and 20.08.1941.
In military service 09.1919 – 11.1922 and 06.1941 – 05.1942.

Recommendation for order “PATRIOTIC WAR II CLASS”:
He participated in the defensive combat operations near Lviv town as deputy regiment commander responsible for material supplies of 509 anti-aircraft artillery regiment (he cannot recall the division), 12 army, South-Western front. On 26 June 1941, he was severely wounded in the head and sent to the evacuation hospital in the town Zhmerinka, where he was hospitalised until 05.08.1941. After recovery, he was dispatched to serve in 27 separate railway brigade, South-Western front, where he again participated in the defensive operations near town Bakhmach. On 20.08.1941, he was severely wounded in the chest and spine, and was transferred to the Bakhmach town hospital, where he underwent treatment until 03.10.1941. After recovery, he was sent to a construction unit №388 in town Zlatoust, where he was located until May 1942. After that, he was discharged as partially unfit.

As the result of head wound, his eye sight is severed: the right eye lost sight. As the result of his chest wound, two ribs are broken and 10 teeth knocked out, which complicates food ingestion.

At present, he is war disabled II category, works as a revisor at the Peoples Commissariat of textile industry.

For his active participation in the struggle against the German invaders, I recommend him to be bestowed with order “PATRIOTIC WAR II CLASS”

06 February 1946
