For demolishing 500m of the enemy trenches, killing 120 enemy soldiers, and destroying 4 pillboxes with his squadron
Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. The order weighs 25.3 gram without its screwplate and measures 44.30 mm in width and 46.58 mm in height. This early screwback order is produced by the Krasnokamsky Mint (KMD). The minimum known serial number for this variation is 34787 and the maximum is 71998.
In excellent condition with crisp details and most gold plating still present. The enamel is problem free without chipping and repairs and shows some small contact marks only on the rays of the red star. The reverse is absolutely stunning and clearly shows the ‘starback’ which is typical for this variation. It comes with its original and well fitted silver screwplate and its long screw has not been shortened.
Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:
“In the offensive operation on the Nasva station sector during 14-17 January 1944, Captain GOLOVKO personally commanded the mortar battery and delivered precise supporting fire, which enabled the advance of the rifle troops. In the dynamic environment of the offensive, he managed to organised efficient and meticulous functioning of the squadron headquarters, ensured uninterrupted radio links with the observation post. As the result of this effort, he could effectively direct and correct the fire, destroying the targets inhibiting advance of our infantry.
In the course of the engagements near the settlement Yagodniki, the squadron demolished 500m of the enemy trenches, killed up to 20 enemy soldiers, and destroyed 4 pillboxes. 4 enemy firing positions were suppressed near the settlement Zakhody Nizhnie. Near the village Bor, up to 100 enemy troops were eliminated, 4 enemy counter attacks were frustrated, one 81mm mortar battery and 7 machine-gun positions were suppressed.
