For showing bravery, initiative, and decisive leadership in combat, breaking enemy defenses, leading a successful river crossing, and organizing effective attacks on enemy supply lines
Recommended for the Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky 2nd class
Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. The order weighs 24.8 grams without its screwplate and measures 44.68 mm in width and 46.26 mm in height.
In decent overall condition with its details crisp and without repairs. The enamels on the 9 o’clock of the red star is repaired with lacquer but problem free on the other rays and in the center. The order comes with its original and well fitted screwplate and its screw has not been shortened.
Brief description of his feat of arms or achievements:
Colonel KONOBEEV Vasiliy Borisovich 1900. Deputy commander of 415 rifle “Mozyr” division, 80 Rifle Corps, 61 Army.
Recommendation for order “BOGDAN KHMELNITSKY II CLASS”.
In the offensive operations of the rifle division during 14 January – 15 March 1945, comrade KONOBEEV proved himself as brave and initiative officer, who is capable to take prompt and effective decision in combat setting.
During the offensive operations on the territory of Poland and Germany, he was present most of the time among the fighting troops of his division assisting in the combat decision making.
In the breakthrough of the enemy strong defence line on the western Vistula bank, comrade KONOBEEV was present among the fighting rifle troops and utilised his experience and knowledge in achieving the combat goals. With his active participation, the enemy defence was penetrated. KONOBEEV organised a mobile tank riding infantry detachment to pursue the retreating enemy. This detachment wrecked serious havoc on the enemy rear area and supply routes. During the force crossing of the river Ina by the rifle troops, comrade KONOBEEV commanded personally at the crossing site and successfully got the troops to the other bank.
Under his direct command, the 415 rifle division liberated dozens of settlements , including town Sochaczew, Tarcin, Schloppe, Reetz, Paugard (?), Arnswald, and others. The division destroyed large quantity of the enemy equipment and troops.
For skilful command of the troops in battle, comrade KONOBEEV deserves order “BOGDAN KHMELNITSKY II CLASS”.
