P., who was brought in on September 20, 1943, in an extremely serious condition with a diagnosis of a through-and-through shrapnel wound to the left shoulder with bone tissue damage. Gas gangrene. Thanks to the timely intervention of the surgeon and the operation (wide lampas incisions), the intravenous administration of large doses of antitoxin serum, etc., the life of the wounded soldier was saved – the left upper limb was not amputated. He was evacuated from the hospital on the sixth day in a satisfactory condition. There are up to ten similar severe cases of injuries with complications of gas infection, and all of them recovered thanks to timely surgical intervention and special therapy.
