Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class #262080

Awarded to Guards Lieutenant Petr Pavlovich Kamendrovsky (Петр Павлович Камендровский)

For courageous leadership and bravely in leading his platoon in the forefront of the assault on enemy trenches, inspiring his men to successfully capture the town of Talmaza [Moldova] with minimal casualties. During this engagement, he sustained a severe injury, resulting in the loss of his right leg

Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. The order weighs 27.7 gram without its screwplate and measures 45.45 mm in width and 47.53 mm in height. Its mint mark and serial number are located at the bottom of its reverse.

In sublime condition with crisp details and very few traces of wear. The red and white enamels are beautiful without scratches, flaking or repairs. Much of the original gold plating on the edges of the order is still present and both sides developed an appealing layer of patina to the silver. It comes with a time period and well fitted silver screwplate which fits well and its screw has not been shortened.

Interesting research to a true hero and in hard to upgrade condition

Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:

In the combat engagements for enemy defence breakthrough on the right bank of Dniester river in the vicinity of the village Talmaza on 20 august 1944, comrade KAMENDROVSKY was the first with his platoon to raise into assault of the enemy trenches. Leading by personal example of courage he inspired the other man to follow him. As the result of this effort, the 2nd rifle battalion (which comrade KAMANDROVKY’s platoon was part of) captured the enemy trenches and the settlement Talmaza with only insignificant losses.
In this battle, comrade KOMANDROVSKY was severely wounded (he lost his right leg up to the knee).
For his combat merits serving the Motherland, comrade KOMANDROVSKY deserves to be bestowed with order “PATRIOTIC WAR II CLASS”.
