Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #78010

 

Awarded to Private Sergej Antipovich Shlyakhtyuk (Сергей Антипович Шляхтюк)

 

For being severely wounded by shell fragments during the offensive operation near Riga on 27 September 1944. As the result of his wounds, he completely lost sight on both eyes and movement of the left hand are limited

 

 

Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 45.38 mm in height, 43.58 mm in width and weighs 27.7 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark Monetni Dvor is located at the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.

 

In superb condition with crisp details and minor wear. The white and red enamels are beautiful without repairs and show some contact marks on the 3 o’clock ray of the red star only. Its reverse is in excellent condition as well and shows an appealing patina. The silver screwpate is time period to the order and its screw maintained its full length.

Brief description of his feat of arms or achievements:

Former heavy machine-gun gunner of 446 rifle regiment, 327 rifle division, 10 Army, 3 Baltic front.

Private SHLAYKHTYUK participated in the front of Patriotic war from 19 June 1944 till 27 September 1944. In the offensive operation near town Riga on 27 September 1944, he was wounded /severely/ by shell fragments with damage to his eyes and left shoulder.

As the result of his wounds, he completely lost sight on both eyes, the main nerve of the left arm is damaged, which restricts the movement of the left hand.

At present, he receives medical treatment at the field hospital №1324 in the Molotov city.

For the sustained sever wound, private SHLAYKHTYUK deserves state award order “RED STAR”.
