Awarded to Guards Private Vasily Petrovich Glushenkov (Василий Петрович Глушенков)
Order of the Patriotic War 1st class; made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 44.95 mm in height and 43.41 mm in width. It weighs 27.9 gram without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark Monetni Dvor is located at the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.
This original order of the Patriotic War 1st class is in excellent, well above average condition. All details are visible and the red and white enamels are problem free without repairs. Its screwpate is time period and the screw has not been shortened.
High award for a private with real hand-to-hand combat bravery. Scarce as such
Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or accomplishments:
“On June 24, 1944, when the enemy defenses near the village of Stupaki were being breached, he took the place of the squad leader, who had been taken out of action, and along with his squad he was one of the first to rush into the enemy trenches on height 190.5, where he personally killed 6 Hitlerites.
During the crossing of the Merichanka River on July 14, 1944 he captured an enemy machine gun and killed its crew, thus enabling our riflemen to advance.”
