Soviet Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #43519

Михайловский Петр Антонович

Awarded to Junior Lieutenant Petr Antonovich Mikhailovsky (Петр Антонович Михайловский) commander of torpedo motorboat TKA №66

For participating in the operation for naval blockade of the islands in the Viborg bay, with the objective of preventing the enemy to transfer reinforcements. Under intensive enemy fire he forced through the enemy mine field, attacked and sank an enemy transport and thus destroying the enemy reinforcement

Recommended for the Order of the Red Banner

Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 45.41 mm in height, 43.03 mm in width and weighs 26.4 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark Monetni Dvor is located at the 12 o’clock position of its reverse. It appears the old serial number was removed or corrected and a new one was engraved. This is done by the mint in a very typical manner and style.

In stunning condition with crisp details and without repairs. The white and red enamels are absolutely gorgeous and show a tiny superficial chip on the edge of the 5 o’clock ray of the red star only; barely noticeable with the naked eye. Its reverse is in excellent condition as well and shows an appealing patina. Its silver screwpate is time period to the order and the screw maintained its full length.

Beautiful and rare navy award!

Brief description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“On 05 July 1944, the torpedo motorboat TKA №66 commanded by Jr.Lt. MIKHAILOVKSY participated in the operation for naval blockade of the islands in the Viborg bay, with the objective of preventing the enemy to transfer the reinforcements. Our torpedo motorboats attacked the enemy an enemy ship convoy (17 flags) at the cape Ristiniemi.

Under intensive enemy artillery return fire and the fire of the enemy coastal defence, Jr.Lt. MIKHAILOVKSY forced through the enemy naval mine field, then attacked and sank an enemy transport carrying troops and materiel, thus destroying the enemy reinforcement sent to the garrisons of the blockaded islands.

For courage and bravery exhibited in the combat engagement, Jr.Lt. MIKHAILOVSKY deserves to be bestowed with order “RED BANNER”.”
