Awarded to Sr. Lieutenant Grigory Ivanovich Imeninnik (Григорий Иванович Именинник)

 

For personally participating in an assault on the enemy positions while wounded and being responsible for eliminating up to 50 enemy troops, 7 enemy firing positions, 5 heavy machine-guns and 1 SPG

 

 

Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 45.89 mm in height, 44.16 mm in width and weighs 29.6 gram without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark Monetni Dvor is located at the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.

 

This original order of the Patriotic War 1st class is in excellent condition with some minor contact marks only. The details are crisp and both the white and red enamels are problem free. Even the higher laying parts like the hammer and sickle show little wear. Its screwpate is time period to the order and the screw maintained its full length.

Brief description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“During 10-15 March 1945, the 1st battery was assigned the task to support the assault by the 2nd mountain-rifle battalion of the brigade during the operation for breaking strong German defence line north-east of the town Fryštát. One of the important factors, which assured success in this mission was the selfless conduct of the 1st battery commander Sr.Lt. IMENINNIK. Following all the time among the rifle company forward formation, Sr.Lt. IMENINNIK skilfully directed his battery fire. At the critical moment in the engagement, he moved forward his battery to an open sights position with the objective to destroy the enemy fortifications and the SPGs. During 10-15 March 1945, the 1st battery inflicted the following damage to the enemy: eliminated up to 50 enemy troops, 7 enemy firing positions, 5 heavy machine-guns, 1 SPG, and other targets.

On 12 March 1945, he participated personally in an assault on the enemy positions leading his battery headquarters platoon. He sustained a light wound in the neck, but remained on the battlefield and maintained the command of his unit.

For excellent combat performance, courage and bravery, Sr. Lt. IMENNINIK deserves a state award – order “RED BANNER”. ”
