Awarded to Guards Master Sergeant Yefim Pavlovich Beloded (Ефим Павлович Белодед)

 

Bestowed for exceptional bravery during battles near the Nida River and Radom where he successfully shot down an enemy Fw-189 aircraft during an air raid with a self-propelled machine-gun. The following day, his crew destroyed up to a platoon of enemy infantry and five ammunition-laden vehicles 

 

So called ‘Mercedes’ variation with its spikes in the shape of a Mercedes logo 

 

 

Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 46.01 mm in height, 44.33 mm in width and weighs 32.6 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark Monetni Dvor is located at the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.

 

In outstanding condition with few traces of wear. Its details are crisp and even the raised parts like the hammer and sickle have well defined edges. Both the red and white enamels are extremely well preserved and free chips scratches and repairs. Its well fitted screwpate is time period to the order and the screw has not been shortened.

 

This Order of the Patriotic War comes with two accompanying documents both containing an original picture of Sgt. Beloded:

  1. The first document is a membership booklet of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU)
  2. The second document is an ID card from the Komsomol (All-Union Leninist Young Communist League)

Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:

Commander of an anti-aircraft self-propelled machine-gun of the 2nd armoured anti-aircraft machine-gun company, Guards Master Sergeant BELODED E.P. exhibited courage and bravery fighting on the approaches to the river Nida and on the town Radom sector.

13 January 1945, the enemy conducted an air raid against the combat formations of 22 Guards mechanised rifle brigade deployed near the settlement Sladkow Maly. Fire of Guards Master Sergeant BELODED’s AA system shot down a Fascist vulture Fw-189.

14 January 1945, the enemy infantry and trucks attempted to break out towards the river Nida. Comrade BELODED’s crew eliminated up to a platoon enemy troops and 5 vehicles loaded with ammunitions in the sector of the forest east of Wola Zydowska.

While manning a radio station, Guards Master Sergeant BELODED provided reliable radio link between the AA company and the headquarters. Guards Master Sergeant BELODED deserves order “PATRIOTIC WAR I CLASS”.
