Awarded posthumously to T-34 tank commander and Guards Lieutenant Grigory Andreyevich Koblov (Григорий Андреевич Коблов)
Comes with its original temporary award certificate!
Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 45.50 mm in height and 43.18 mm in width. It weighs 26.9 gram. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark Monetni Dvor is located at the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.
This original order of the Patriotic War 1st class is in excellent condition. The details are crisp and both the white and red enamels problem free. Not even the higher laying parts like the hammer and sickle show any wear. Its reverse is in excellent condition as well and both sides show an attractive dark patine. Its silver screwpate is time period to the order and the screw maintained its full length.
The order comes with its original award certificate dated 15 April 1944. It has been laminated for preservation.

Brief description of his feat of arms or achievements:
“During the fighting for the town of Fridrikhovka and the train station of Volochisk on March 6, 1944, Guards Lieutenant comrade G. Koblov, a T-34 tank commander, demonstrated exceptionally skillful mastery of his tank.
Firing with great precision and maneuvering his tank ably, he killed up to 15 enemy soldiers and destroyed 12 vehicles. Having rushed toward the station and having reached its western outskirts, he took up a defensive position and held it until the main force arrived, fighting off repeated enemy counterattacks.
For the bravery he displayed and for his exceptionally skillful mastery of his tank, he deserves to be posthumously awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st Class.
