Short Description of his feat of arms:
“Comrade A.P. Lastovsky has been taking part in the fighting with the German invaders since July 5, 1941. While commanding a rifle battalion he showed bravery, courage, and great skill in leading his troops into battle during the fighting for the city of Aulowönen and during the offensive operations.
On January 20, 1945, during the fighting for Aulowönen, Lastovsky’s battalion stormed and captured said city.
Maneuvering on the battlefield and threatening an enemy unit with encirclement, comrade Lastovsky led his battalion forward.
On January 22, 1945, during the fighting for the city of Wehlau, his battalion struck at the enemy unit from the flank and seized the city. During this battle the battalion killed as many as 200 German soldiers and officers, destroyed 21 heavy and light machine guns, and captured 10 guns, 18 vehicles, and many other sorts of military equipment.
Comrade Lastovsky particularly distinguished himself on January 25, 1945 during the fighting for the city of Starkenberg. Exercising command in battle, he moved his battalion to the enemy’s left flank and attacked him vigorously. Following a sudden strike he captured the trenches and thereafter the city as well. During this battle comrade Lastovsky was severely wounded.
For the bravery and courage he displayed in combat with the German invaders, comrade Lastovsky deserves the Order of the Red Banner.”
