Order of Suvorov 2nd Class #962
Awarded to Guards Major General Vladimir Iosifovich Brezhnev (Владимир Иосифович Брежнев)
For ensuring effective artillery support during the forced crossing of the Svir’ River and breaking through heavily fortified enemy lines. This was acknowledged by Supreme Commander Stalin. Brezhnev’s leadership was crucial in overcoming dense enemy defenses and coordinating with rifle troops for rapid advancements and additional breakthroughs at the Megreka River
Brezhnev was arrested for counter-revolutionary activities in 1938 but released and rehabilitated in 1940
Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 48.33 mm in width, 46.89 mm in height and weighs 30.1 grams without its screwplate. The serial number and the mint mark Monetni Dvor are located on its reverse.
In excellent condition with flawless enamels and a nice even patina to the silver medallion. The details of Suvorov’s bust are mostly visible and the order shows relatively few dings and scratches. Its reverse is in equally nice condition with light overall wear and a crisp mint mark and serial number. There have been no repairs to the order and its screw has not been shortened. The order comes with its time period and well fitted silver screwplate.

Major General of artillery corps V.I. BREZHNEV conducted extensive organisational preparation work among the artillery units of the army during the preparation for offensive operations.
Operations for forced crossing of the river Svir’ and breakthrough of the strong and well fortified enemy defence line were well supported by high density and demolishing power of artillery fire. For this effort, he was mentioned in the dispatch of the Supreme Commander in chief [red. Stalin].
Rapid enemy pursuit and breakthrough of the second well fortified defence line (on the Megreka river) rich with enemy engineering obstacles where both possible thanks to efficient coordination between the artillery and rifle troops.
For efficient organisation of the artillery fire and coordination with rifle troops during the forced crossing of the Svir’ river, for breakthrough of 2 well fortified enemy defence lines, Mj. General of artillery corps V.I. BREZHNEV deserves state award order “SUVOROV II CLASS”.
