Description

Researched Soviet Order of Alexander Nevsky #26872

Awarded to Major Valentin Pavlovich Stryapchenko (Валентин Павлович Стряпченко )

For the capture of the Königsberg Citadel

This Order of Alexander Nevsky is made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 51.41 mm in height and 49.96 mm in width and weighs 41.4 gram. The serial number and the mint mark Monetni Dvor are located at the 6 o’clock position underneath the screw. Stryapchenko also received a Red Banner, two orders of the Patriotic War and a Red Star.

The order is in near perfect condition with all details crisp. Even the higher laying parts have no wear and the red enamel is absolutely pristine. The gold plating on the wreath, sword and arrows is all present as is the gilt on the pollaxes. The order shows no repairs and the screwpost is full length. It comes with its time period screwplate.

A beautiful piece with interesting research!

Short Description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“During preparation for enemy defence breakthrough near town Koenigsberg, he properly organised and set up the system of artillery reconnaissance for detection of the enemy firing positions on both the first line and in the near depth of enemy defences. 85 enemy targets were scouted in the period from 1 – 5 April 1944. By developing proper plan and organisation of the initial artillery barrage, he provided for fulfilment of the artillery objectives during the enemy breakthrough phase of the operation.

In the engagements on the immediate approaches to the town Koenigsberg and during street fighting, he assured constant communication to the artillery forces and proper target acquisition by the artillery units. As the result of this, the artillery faces were successful in achieving their goals during all the phases of the engagement, and facilitated our rifle units in reaching the North-western bank of Ober-Teich lake.

He is worthy of the “Aleksander Nevsky” order.”
