Description
Order of Lenin #9060
Awarded to medical instructor Ivan Vasilievich Chibisov (Иван Васильевич Чибисов)
For serving as a medical instructor from 23 July 1941. He bravely rescued 145(!) wounded comrades under fire. In the Sivkovo village battle, despite being wounded, he helped 42 men, providing medical assistance to 9
Interesting to note that he was recommended for a Medal for Bravery which was changed to an Order of Lenin by Lt. General Korzun
Made of solid gold, platinum and enamels. Measures 39.93 mm in height (including the top of the flag pole), 38.63 mm in width and weighs 35.7 gram without its screwplate. The mint mark Monetni Dvor and the serial number are located on its reverse. This is a scarce screwback variation which were awarded before June 1943. The lowest known serial number for this variation is #6372 and the highest known number is #13378. About 7,000 of these were awarded.
This original order is in a nice, about average condition for an early wartime screwback variation. Its details are well preserved and the raised parts of Lenin’s face show medium wear. The red enamels are mostly present (apx 80%) and without repairs but show some loss on the bottom side of the banner and the red star on the left. The grey enamels are all present with some dings and scratches only. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with its time period and well fitted silver screwplate. The order has never been converted or repaired.
A rare and wonderful award with interesting research
