Soviet Order of Lenin; made out of solid gold, platinum and enamels. Measures 44.78 mm in height, 38.03 mm in width and it weighs 32.7 grams without its suspension. The stamped serial number and raised mint mark are located at the center of its reverse. The minimum know serial number for this variation is 299660 and the maximum is 372139.
In decent condition with a enamel chip at the top of the red banner and one above the second N in ‘LENIN’. The rest of the red enamels are beautiful without repairs and the grey enamels show some scratches left of Lenin’s face. All details on its obverse are crisp and the gold base and platinum bust of Lenin show light wear only. Its reverse is in similar condition with some dings and scratches but the mint mark and serial number are clearly visible. The order comes with its time period suspension and ribbon and its silver connection ring has not been cut.
With the current gold price (08/08/2020) the intrinsic value alone is about €1700
Not a long service award so with nice research potential
The Order of Lenin (Russian: Орден Ленина), named after the leader of the Russian October Revolution, was established by the Central Executive Committee on April 6, 1930. The order was the highest civilian decoration in the Soviet Union. Awarded to:
- Civilians for outstanding services rendered to the State
- Members of the armed forces for exemplary service
- Those who promoted friendship and cooperation between peoples and in strengthening peace
- Those with meritorious services to the Soviet state and society
