Description
Order of Glory 3rd Class #493580
Awarded to Sergeant Dmitry Timofeyevich Semyonov (Дмитрий Тимофеевич Семенов)
For wounds sustained at the Kalinin Front, capturing a German Gefreiter and bringing him back to headquarters, knocking out an enemy truck and killing 3 Germans and getting severely wounded in the process
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 45.55 mm in width; 47.87 mm in height and weighs 23.6 gram without its suspension.
In excellent, well above average condition with problem free enamels. The higher laying parts show light wear only and its details are all visible. Its connection ring has not been cut.
At first glance it appears there is an enamel chip on the top left side of the banner but on close inspection it shows its a small production imperfection. The same accounts for a air bubble underneath the last ‘A’ in SLAVA (СЛАВА).
Short translation of the research:
Awarded on November 6, 1945 to Sergeant Dmitry Timofeyevich Semyonov for wounds sustained during the war, when he served as reconnaissance platoon leader in the 490th Rifle Regiment, 134th Rifle Division, 4th Shock Army, Kalinin Front. Born in 1912, Semyonov joined the army in January 1942. During a reconnaissance mission on March 20, 1942 near Chorniye Ruchyi in Smolensk Province he captured a German Gefreiter and brought him back to regimental headquarters. While helping repel an enemy attack in the same area, he knocked out an enemy truck. On April 2, 1942 his unit launched an attack at Chorniye Ruchyi, during which Semyonov killed 3 Germans, but he himself was severely wounded in his left arm and right leg. He spent five months in a hospital and was declared a disabled veteran of the 3rd category. Semyonov’s wartime service thus ended after only three months. This was his only award. He later worked as a storekeeper with the Moscow Province Commerce Department.
