Awarded to Master Sergeant Nikolaj Aleksandrovich Blinov (Николай Александрович Блинов)

For saving the lives of 34 (!) wounded men by carrying out of the battlefield under heavy enemy fire and attend to their wounds. Even when hit by a bullet in his head he carried the wounded away before going to a medical facility

Recommended for the Order of the Red Banner

Thin variation made of silver and enamels. Measures 47.22 mm in width, 49.09 mm in height and weighs 21.0 grams without its suspension. The serial number ‘12210’ is located on top of its reverse.

This original order is in great, much better than average condition with most gold plating present and an attractive medium patina on both sides. The red enamels on both the top star as the lower ribbon are fully original without repairs and show a minor superficial chip between the Cyrillic S(С) and the L(Л) in ‘SLAVA’ only. The order comes with its time period steel suspension and its connection ring has not been cut.

Scarce award in well above average condition with research to a true hero!

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“In the combat engagements for the enemy strongholds Goythenen and Pobethen during 01-08 February 1945, comrade BLINOV proved himself as a brave and devoted defender of the Motherland. During both the offensive and defensive combat actions, there were wounded among the troops. Master Sgt. BLINOV selflessly fulfilled his duty. He dressed the wounds and carried personally the wounded away from the battlefield. The fire was raging around him, but the medic steadfastly and calmly kept on going, disregarding his personal safety for the sake of helping the wounded. He carried out an officer from the very furnace of the fire. It was hard, but he kept crawling, saving the life of the commander. In these combat engagements, medic BLINOV helped 34 wounded enlisted men and officers, rendering first aide and carrying them out of the battlefield. His effort saved many lives of these men. While dressing wounds on a wounded soldier, medic BLINOV came to rise a little when an enemy bullet hit him in the head. Overcoming pain, he still carried the wounded away from the battlefield and only then left himself to a medical facility.

For courage and bravery exhibited in the struggle against the German invaders, comrade BLINOV deserves state award order “RED BANNER”.”
