Medal for the Defense of the Polar Region with document

Awarded to Ivan Petrovich Kuzmenko (Иван Петрович Кузьменко)

Made of gilded brass. Measures 32.27 mm in width, 37.42 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 17.2 grams without its suspension. 

This medal is in great condition with crisp details. Even the higher laying parts show light wear only. Both sides show relatively few dings and scratches much of the gold plating is still present. The double layer steel suspension is time period to the medal.

Its accompanying document is in decent condition and is dated 23 February 1946 and numbered E 020330

The Medal “For the Defense of the Soviet Transarctic” was awarded to all participants in the defense of the Soviet Arctic region – soldiers of the Red Army, Navy and troops of the NKVD, as well as persons from the civilian population who took part in the defense of the North.
