Medal for the Defense of the Polar Region variation 1 (WW2)

Sub-variation with a knob on top of the handle of the sickle 

Medal for the Defense of the Polar Region: made of gilded brass. Measures 32.24 mm in width, 37.37 mm in height, including the eyelet and it weighs 17.0 gram. 

This medal is in excellent, above average condition with all details crisp and much gold plating present. There are few dings and scratches and even the higher laying parts show little wear. The brass suspension is time period to the medal.

The Medal “For the Defense of the Soviet Transarctic” was awarded to all participants in the defense of the Soviet Arctic region – soldiers of the Red Army, Navy and troops of the NKVD, as well as persons from the civilian population who took part in the defense of the North.
