Soviet Medal for Labor Valor #12988
Made of solid silver and enamels. The medal itself measures 34.59 mm in diameter, 38.81 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 21.7 gram without its suspension. The solid silver suspension measures 33.10 mm in width at the top and 28.33 in height. Its eyelet is 4.97 mm wide. The reverse shows the stamped letters ‘No’ followed by the engraved serial number ‘12988’. The minimum known serial number for this variation is 44 and the maximum 15685.
This early pre WW2 medal for Labor Valor is in a superb, well above average condition with its details crisp. Even the higher laying parts on both sides are pristine. The enamel is beautiful and without flaking. All parts of the silver suspension are original including the screw, the ‘Mondvor’ nut, the plate holding the original red ribbon and the screw plate tightening it all up. The medal shows a very appealing even dark patina on both sides and its connection ring has not been cut. The silver plated brass screw has not been shortened and there have been no repairs.
Fully original and next to impossible to upgrade. Rare as such!
Awarded to laborers who dedicated themselves towards the building of a socialist society
