Medal for Combat Merit #355280

 

Awarded to Major Vadim Stepanovich Komissarov (Вадим Степанович Комиссаров)

 

For exemplary service as a tank platoon technician, successfully training tank drivers to full operational readiness with consistently high academic results, demonstrating strong military expertise, leadership, and dedication

 

 

Made of solid silver and lacquer. The medal itself measures 32.25 mm in diameter and 37.44 mm in height including the eyelet. It weighs 18.7 grams without its suspension and 27.1 grams with the suspension but without the nut. Its eyelet measures 5.90 mm in width and the suspension measures 25.31 mm in width at its narrowest point and 31.49 at its widest point.

 

The medal is in nice, above average condition with several dings and scratches but relative light wear to the raised areas. A small amount of the red lacquer filling the letters ‘CCCP’ is present and both sides show a medium patina to the silver. The silver suspension is authentic as is the silver screw, hexagon nut, the brass screwplate containing the text ‘Monetnij Dvor’ and the plate holding the ribbon. Its connection ring has not been cut.

 

Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merit:

From February to October 1942, Comrade Komissarov prepared tank drivers for full graduation courses and trained them to 100% completion. In April, the average platoon score was 4.02 in technical subjects and 4.68 overall; in June the overall average was 4.06 and 4.13 in technical subjects. The group being prepared for the December graduation has good and excellent results in training.

Comrade Komissarov has good military training and fully transfers his knowledge to the cadets. In his work he is strict and demanding in training and education, with a strict individual approach to each cadet.

Comrade Komissarov serves as an example for all Komsomol members, disciplined, active, initiative-driven, and enjoys great authority among the command staff and his subordinates. During the period from February he has three commendations announced by regimental orders and is a good organizer of mass activities.
