Awarded to Senior telegraph technician Vyacheslav Alexandrovich Kosminsky (Вячеслав Александрович Косминский)
For setting up telegraphy equipment at the communication hub in Murmansk for 3 days straight without sleep
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 32.12 mm in diameter, 2.69 mm in thickness and 36.62 mm in height including its eyelet. The eyelet itself is 4.89 mm wide and the medal weighs 21.9 gram without its suspension. The minimum known serial number for this variation is 9 and the maximum is 30308.
The medal is in a nice, above average condition with several dings and scratches on both sides. Its details however are mostly visible and the original red enamel filling the lettering is all present. The double layer suspension is of a later type and replaced in accordance to new 1943 regulations on wearing awards.
Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits
“Comrade KOSMINSKY has been working as a telegraph technician. His persistent effort enabled the installation and deployment of the telegraphy stations of the 14 army ahead of the planned schedule. On 02 July 1941, comrade KOSMINSKY was given a task of installing and setting up the telegraphy equipment at the communication hub located at the address Prospekt Stalina №46. He worked on the task for three days straight without sleep and rest and finished the work 4 days ahead of the schedule.
On 25 September 1941, comrade KOSMINSKY was assigned to assemble and set up the telegraphy equipment at the 14 army communication hub located in the cliffs. Comrade KOSMINSKY enthusiastically began his work and finished it
3 days ahead of the date assigned by the command.
At present, comrade KOSMINSKY provides the operational maintenance to the telegraphy station and works accurately and with great love to his job.
For his modest but valuable work, comrade KOSMINSKY deserves a high state award – medal “For Combat Merits”.”
