Soviet Medal for Combat Merit #261659
Awarded to Jr. Lieutenant Yakov Terentievich Pilipchenko (Яков Терентьевич Пилипченко)
For executing his missions in delivering food and ammunition supplies to the combat forward positions in highly disciplined and well organised fashion
Made of solid silver and lacquer. The medal itself measures 32.31 mm in diameter and 37.02 mm in height including the eyelet. It weighs 17.0 gram without its suspension and 26.5 gram with the suspension but without the nut. The eyelet is 5.76 mm in width and the suspension measures 25.08 mm in width at its narrowest point and 31.71 at its widest point.
The medal is in an excellent, above average condition with several small dings and scratches but nothing distracting from the overall appeal of the medal. The higher laying parts like the sword and sabre show medium wear with many details perfectly visible. The red lacquer filling the lettering is mostly present (apx 75%) but covered in a layer of dirt. Its silver suspension is original as is the brass screw, the hexogen nut, the plate holding the ribbon and its ‘Monjetnij Dvor’ screwplate. Its connection ring has not been cut and its ribbon has an old plastic protection cover.

“Jr. Lieutenant comrade PILIPCHENKO is very thorough, resourceful, and organised in fulfilling his service duties. He achieved good results and discipline among his men in the task of maintaining and keeping save the horses.
Despite the lack of proper horse fodder, the platoon horses are in satisfactory shape. No death among the horses.
