Description
Medal for Combat Merit #1933405
Made of solid silver. The medal for Combat Merit measures 32.33 mm in diameter and 2.30 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 37.21 mm including the eyelet and it weighs 18.3 grams without its suspension.
In excellent condition with all details sharp and clearly visible. The original red lacquer is fully intact. The obverse has only minor dings and scratches, with a pleasing, even toning to the silver. The reverse shows more signs of wear, but the serial number remains well-defined. The medal includes its original period double-layer steel suspension, and the connection ring is uncut.
Most likely awarded the second half of 1944 so with good research potential
This military medal awarded for “combat action resulting in a military success”; “courageous defence of the state borders”; or “successful military and political training and preparation”. Also awarded for 10 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
