Medal for Combat Merit #1199565
Made of solid silver. It measures 32.19 mm in diameter and 2.15 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 36.91 mm (including the eyelet) and it weighs 17.0 gram without its suspension.
In worn but decent condition with medium wear to the raised areas. The red lacquer is worn off and both sides show a medium patina to the silver. The medal comes with its time period double layer suspension with improvised stickpin. Its ribbon is old and the connection ring between the medal and suspension has not been cut.
Most likely awarded during the first half of 1944 so with good research potential
This military medal awarded for “combat action resulting in a military success”; “courageous defence of the state borders”; or “successful military and political training and preparation”. Also awarded for 10 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
