Awarded to Sr. Lt. Fedor Vladimirovich Dub (Федор Владимирович Дуб)
For effectively constructing airfields under the toughest winter weather conditions
Made of solid silver and lacquer. Measurements; 37.27 mm in diameter and 2.96 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 42.02 mm (including the eyelet) and it weighs 30.2 gram without its suspension. The suspension measures 25.34 mm in width at its narrowest point and 31.36 at its widest point.
The medal for Bravery is in excellent condition with light wear relative to contemporary pieces. The details of the higher laying parts like the rivets on the side of the tank and the canons are all visible and much of the lacquer filling the letters is still present. All parts of the solid silver suspension are original and belong to the medal and its connection ring has not been cut.
Scarce to find with all original parts!
Brief description of his achievements:
“Comrade DUB Fedor Vladimirovich has been working in the airfield service section of 26 Air Base Area since August 1941. In this period, construction technician DUB proved himself exceptionally determined to fulfil all the airfield construction objectives. These missions required day and night presence at the construction sites during harsh winter weather conditions. Comrade DUB personally was present and provided practical assistance during the constructions, ensuring the Airforces were provisioned with requires amount of good quality air strips for operations.
During the Red Army Winter offensive, comrade DUB was expedited to the Ostakino airfield with the task to prepare it for the aircraft landing on wheels. His leadership ensured execution of this cumbersome task, which allowed the Airforce to commence combat missions from this airfield.
During the Red Army Spring offensive, comrade DUB was given an order to urgently prepare the Volonets-Polyana airfield for operations. The goal was achieved ahead of schedule, which allowed the aircrafts to use it for landing.
At present, comrade DUB involved in ground infrastructure planning and construction. He participated actively in the construction of the gravel laid landing strip at the Buturlinovka airfield in September 1942. He did great deal of work for developing technical project documentation, financial estimates and calculations. This allowed to commence the works in time and quickly produce all the needed documentations.
He is one of those officers, who dedicates all them for the goal of defeating the Hitlerist invaders. He deserves state award – medal “FOR BRAVERY”.”
