Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits (medal number 236456)

Comrade PETROV has been the aide to the chief of staff for the rear area issues. In combat, he proved himself as courageous, steadfast, and devoted Red Army commanders. During the defensive battles for the towns Tula, Kashira, Serpukhov, and in liberation of Kaluga, comrade PETROV reliably delivered the rockets to the fire squadrons in the most difficult winter conditions with roads buried under snow.

In the latest engagements in the sectors of the 30th ,20th , and 5th armies, comrade PETROV again arranged exceptionally well the rockets resupply. An incident occurring at the station is an example of personal brave conduct exhibited by PETROV. An enemy air strike set ablaze the ammunition depot. Disregarding the exploding ammunition; comrade PETROV together is a warrant officer put off the fire and prevented the imminent depot detonation. Comrade PETROV was lightly wounded in the action.

For personal courage in combat setting and impeccable work in resupplying the ammunition to the fire squadrons, he deserves state award – order “Red Star”.
