Description
Soviet Honored Railway Employee badge #7795
Silver variation
1938-1941
Made of solid silver and enamels. Riveted two-piece construction. Measures 44.90 mm in height and weighs 19.6 gram without its screwplate. On the reverse the stamped serial number #7795 and two (silver) marks are visible.
This Soviet Honored Railway Employee badge is in excellent condition with little wear. Even the details of the higher laying parts of the train are very well defined. There is only one small enamel chips on the top red banner; not penetrating the silver. The white enamels and the enamels on the traffic light are flawless. There have been no repairs and the well fitted screwplate is authentic to the badge. Its screw has not been shortened.
This badge was the highest award to railroad employees, equivalent of “Honored” titles in other fields. Like the other “honorary badges”; the early type of this decoration was made in silver; whereas much more common post-1941 issues were in silver-plated or nickel-plated brass.
A beautifully made, scarce badge in silver!
