Soviet Excellent Artillery Badge
Variation made in East-Germany
Made of brass and enamels. Measures 45.70 mm in height, 36.73 mm in width and it weighs 16.9 gram without its screwplate.
The badge is in excellent, well above average condition with all details crisp. The red and white enamels are problem without damage or repairs and show some contact marks only. Its screw has not been shortened and the badge comes with its original and well fitted screwplate.
This version features round dots rather than usual stars forming a pattern under the red enamel in the centre and bigger lettering. Its screwplate has no markings which is typical for these German made pieces. This variation is rated “exceptionally rare” (rarity rating 5) in the Breast Badges of the Red Army, 1941-1945 by B. Airapetyan. It is believed to have been made under contract in a Soviet- occupied part of Germany immediately after the war.
