Translation of the citation for the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class:

“During the period of the offensive operations near the Warsaw city, comrade BAGINSKY exhibited courage, bravery, and commander’s wit.

Comrade BAGINSKY cleared save passages in the enemy minefields, which enabled advance of our infantry and artillery units.

On 14 September 1944 near the settlement Goclaw, BAGINSKY’s squad constructed a bridge crossing across a ditch and cleared 40 anti-personnel mines, all done under unify fire. On the same day, BAGINSKY’s squad accompanied a detachment of submachine-gunners on the mission given by the regiment Command. Observing strict concealment during the approach, they flanked the enemy firing positions situated near the uttermost houses of the Prague district and attacked 3 machine-gun nests with hand grenades. This allowed advance of our infantry.

On the night 14-15 September 1944, comrade BAGINSKY’s squad provided a reconnaissance team with crossing across Vistula river with the mission to scout the enemy defence system and to detect his firing positions. Despite very intensive enemy fire and illumination of the river, our fearless scouts rowed their boats across the river, collected intelligence on the enemy territory, and returned home without losses.

Comrade BAGINSKY deserves state award – order “RED BANNER”.”
