Variation 2 with a raised rim on its reverse
Made of brass. It measures 32.28 mm in diameter and 2.88 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 37.54 mm (including the eyelet) and it weighs 17.8 grams without its suspension.
In excellent condition with most of the original gold-like luster still present. Both sides show several small dings and scratches but light overall wear and the details of the raised areas such as Lenin’s and Stalin’s eyelids are perfectly visible. The double layer steel suspension is time period to the medal and the connection ring has not been cut.
The Medal “To a Partisan of the Patriotic War” (Russian: Медаль Партизану Отечественной войны) was a World War II Soviet award established in two classes. This was done on February 2, 1943, by decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. It recognised the courage of the partisans in their struggle to free the Soviet Motherland behind enemy lines. Its statute was amended by a further decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1947.
