Soviet Order of the Red Star #2792557
Rare ‘Broken’ or ‘Curved’ Bayonet subvariation
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.32 mm in width; 46.53 mm in height and weighs 31.2 gram without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.
This order is in excellent condition with light wear on the center medallion. The enamels are problem free with relatively few small dings and scratches. Its screw has not been shortened and there have been no repairs.
Only Red Stars in the serial number range from #2791072 to #2795998 (and the very first few hundred produced) have a curved bayonet. Hard to find!
The Soviet Order of the Red Star was given to Red Army and Navy personnel for exceptional service in the cause of the defense of the Soviet Union; in both war and peace. Also awarded for 15 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
