Soviet Order for Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces of the USSR 3rd class #39316

 

To Major Anatoly Nilovich Kuznetsov (Анатолий Нилович Кузнецов) 

 

For his involvement in several combat operations in air force units at Jalalabad, Shindand and Bagram in Afghanistan

 

 

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 57.44 mm in width, 57.29 mm in height and weighs 62.5 gram without its screwplate. The mint mark “Monjetnij dvor” is located above the screw post in one curved line and the serial number “39316” is positioned at the bottom of its reverse. The minimum known serial number awarded is 0043, the maximum is 140290.

 

This original order is in excellent condition with all details crisp and light overall wear. The blue and white enamels are problem free with few dings and contact marks only. There have been no repairs and the screw has not been shortened.

 

 

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

Awarded on February 18, 1985 to Major (later Lieutenant Colonel) Anatoly Nilovich Kuznetsov, chief of the Clothing Service of the Air Forces of the 40th Army, Turkestan Military District. He devoted a great deal of attention to supplying air force units with uniforms and gear and improving the sanitary conditions for the men. He was repeatedly involved in combat operations by air force units at Jalalabad, Shindand and Bagram in Afghanistan. He rode along with columns transporting gear from warehouses to Ghazni and Kandahar. Kuznetsov was born in 1938 and served in the army from 1958 to 1985. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. This was his only award.
