Medal for the Victory over Japan (Voenkomat)
Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.11 mm in width, 37.14 mm in height, including the eyelet and it weighs 15.5 gram without its suspension.
This medal for the Victory over Japan is in near mint condition with all details visible and full gold plating. It comes with its time period aluminium suspension.
Hard to upgrade in this condition!
These post-war issues were awarded by a Voenkomat (Military Commissariat) at the veteran’s place of residence. The reasons for the late issue could vary but in most instances; the Voenkomat medals were “catch-up” awards to those who had taken part in the battle and then somehow overlooked by the awarding authorities during WW2 and in the immediate post-war years.
Awarded to Soviet service personnel who were on active service during The Great Patriotic War on the eastern theatre against Japan.
