Medal for the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945 (Voenkomat)
Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.01 mm in width, 36.90 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 15.1 grams without its suspension.
In excellent condition with all details crisp and most gold plating present. The medal comes with its time period suspension.
These post-war issues were awarded by a Voenkomat (Military Commissariat) at the veteran’s place of residence. The reasons for the late issue could vary but in most instances; the Voenkomat medals were “catch-up” awards to those who had taken part in the battle and then somehow overlooked by the awarding authorities during WW2 and in the immediate post-war years.
Awarded to Soviet service personnel who were on active service during The Great Patriotic War. Also awarded to some allied forces such as the post 9 September 1944 Bulgarian Armed Forces.
