Soviet Medal for the Salvation of the Drowning
This medal is made of gilded non-ferrous metal. It measures 32.13 mm in diameter, 37.12 mm in height and weighs 14.7 grams (not including its suspension).
The medal is in great condition with all details crisp and most gold plating present. There are few minor dings and scratches and even the higher laying parts show almost no wear. Its suspension and ribbon are time period to the medal.
Awarded to any person (of any nationality) for courage; bravery and selflessness whilst rescuing a person/people from water. Also awarded for outstanding resourcefulness preventing drowning or for excellence in organizing of rescue operations in Soviet waters or of Soviet citizens.
