Soviet Medal for the Salvation of the Drowning with document
Awarded to Anatoly Ivanovich Turiy (Анатолий Иванович Турий)
This Medal for the Salvation of the Drowning is made out of gilded brass. It measures 32.09 mm in diameter, 37.12 mm in height including its eyelet and it weighs 15.0 gram without its suspension.
The medal is in excellent condition with all details crisp and almost all gold plating present. There are very few miniscule dings scratches only and even the higher laying parts show little wear. The ribbon, as well as the suspension itself are time period to the medal.
The award booklet is dated 10 May 1978 and is in problem free condition.
Awarded to any person (of any nationality) for courage, bravery and selflessness whilst rescuing a person/people from water. Also awarded for outstanding vigilance and resourcefulness preventing drowning or for excellence in organizing of rescue operations in Soviet waters or of Soviet citizens.
