Medal for the Defense of the Polar Region variation 1

Made of brass. Measures 32.04 mm in width, 37.17 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 17.4 grams without its suspension. 

In worn condition with most details still visible, despite the numerous dings and scratches on both sides. A small amount of the original luster is still visible around the lettering on its reverse and the medal comes with a brass suspension and old ribbon.

The Medal “For the Defense of the Soviet Transarctic” was awarded to all participants in the defense of the Soviet Arctic region – soldiers of the Red Army, Navy and troops of the NKVD, as well as persons from the civilian population who took part in the defense of the North.
