Medal for the Defense of the Polar Region variation 1

Made of brass. Measures 32.01 mm in width, 37.20 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 17.3 grams without its suspension.

This medal is in problem free condition with crisp details on its obverse and several dings and scratches on is reverse. Much of original luster is still visible and the double layer steel suspension is time period to the medal.

The Medal “For the Defense of the Soviet Transarctic” was awarded to all participants in the defense of the Soviet Arctic region – soldiers of the Red Army, Navy and troops of the NKVD, as well as persons from the civilian population who took part in the defense of the North.
