Medal for the Defense of the Polar Region
Variation 1 with a separately soldered eyelet
Made of brass. Measures 32.38 mm in width, 37.59 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 16.9 grams without its suspension.
This medal is in excellent condition with crisp details and minor wear to the raised areas only. Both sides show several small dings and scratches and most of the gold-like luster is still present. The double layer suspension and ribbon are time period to the medal.
The Medal “For the Defense of the Soviet Transarctic” was awarded to all participants in the defense of the Soviet Arctic region – soldiers of the Red Army, Navy and troops of the NKVD, as well as persons from the civilian population who took part in the defense of the North.
