Medal for the Defense of the Polar Region variation 1 (WW2)
Made of gilded brass. Measures 32.35 mm in width, 37.36 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 16.8 grams without its suspension.Â
This medal is in great condition with crisp details and light to medium wear to he higher laying parts. Both sides show several dings and scratches but none distracting from the overall appeal of the medal. Much of the gold plating is still present and the double layer suspension is time period to the medal.
The Medal “For the Defense of the Soviet Transarctic” was awarded to all participants in the defense of the Soviet Arctic region – soldiers of the Red Army, Navy and troops of the NKVD, as well as persons from the civilian population who took part in the defense of the North.
