Medal for the Defense of the Polar Region with document
Awarded to NKVD Corporal Andrey Petrovich Golichenko (Андрей Петрович Голиченко)
Made of brass. Measures 32.40 mm in width, 37.57 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 17.1 grams without its suspension.
This medal is in nice condition with most details visible and light to medium overall wear. Both sides show several dings and scratches but a fair amount of the original gold-like luster is still present. The double layer steel suspension and ribbon are time period to the medal.
Its accompanying document is in problem free condition and is dated 10 August 1945 and numbered Д 001576

The Medal “For the Defense of the Soviet Transarctic” was awarded to all participants in the defense of the Soviet Arctic region – soldiers of the Red Army, Navy and troops of the NKVD, as well as persons from the civilian population who took part in the defense of the North.
