Medal for the Defense of the Caucasus variation 1
Scarce sub-variation with the soldiers on the tank carrying rifles
Made of gold plated brass. The medal measures 32.12 mm in diameter, 37.22 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 16.9 gram without its suspension.
This medal is in excellent condition with light overall wear and most gold plating present. There are only few small dings and scratches on its obverse and the details on both sides are crisp. The double layer steel suspension is original and shows the factory stamp ‘НИЯ’ (Molniya) was only used for early Medals for the Defense of the Caucasus.
Hard to find, especially with all parts and ribbon original!
Awarded to all Soviet military and civilians who participated in the defense of the Caucasus region during WW2 between July 1942 and 9 October 1943.
