Medal for the Defense of the Caucasus
Variation 1 with a separately soldered eyelet
Made of gold plated brass. The medal measures 32.25 mm in diameter, 37.49 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 17.1 grams without its suspension.
In superb condition with its details crisp and almost all gold plating still present. Both sides shows relatively few small dings and scratches and there have been no repairs. The double layer steel suspension is typical for these early Caucasus medals and shows the NKMP (НКМП) stamp of the “People’s Commissariat of Local Industry” (Mondvor Narod).
Awarded to all Soviet military and civilians who participated in the defense of the Caucasus region during WW2 between July 1942 and 9 October 1943.
