Medal for the Defense of the Caucasus variation 1
Scarce sub-variation with the soldiers on the tank carrying rifles
Made of gold plated brass. The medal measures 32.09 mm in diameter, 37.85 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 16.9 gram without its suspension.
This medal is in excellent condition with light overall wear and most gold plating present. There are relatively few dings and scratches on either sides and its details are still crisp. The double layer steel suspension is typical for these early Caucasus medals and shows the NKMP stamp of the “People’s Commissariat of Local Industry”.
Scarce, especially in this condition!
Awarded to all Soviet military and civilians who participated in the defense of the Caucasus region during WW2 between July 1942 and 9 October 1943.
